Bat’s Day Black Market

So it was an early rise after a week of late nights to get to the hotel on time.  The night before, CousinH had staged everything for carting to the car, we had our clothes, our food and hit the road.  WoodTurnerD took a separate car as he was coming back that evening with his goods as well as “getting coffee” with someone from Faire before the vending began.
CousinH and I ran through the store in Lancaster picking up a few last minute things and headed to the hotel.  The drive was uneventful, which was great since every time I have her in the car I manage to see (and avert) some horrible accident.
We got to the hotel and our room was ready, so we checked in, yes I got a room, I figured I might want a drink after the vending and didn’t want to be on the hook to drive anywhere.  We started unpacking and waiting....and waiting.  Apparently coffee took longer than anticipated, though WoodTurnerD left earlier than we did he arrived later.
There was enough time to set up the floor, take a quick shower, get dressed and get down there, just slightly not on time.  Look, I’m a girl, it takes a bit longer for me and it was under an hour for all of that.
The table looked good, but was in a precarious predicament – though we paid for our space there was little to no easement with the person next to us and behind us…while I don’t mind sharing, some of the display was less than stable, so that changed over time.  Also changing over time, was the décor that was to set off the merchandise, apparently in the 20 mins at the start 4 people asked about hats and 11 asked about a cheap pair of goggles that was there for Steampunk inspiration.
There was very little room behind the table so we each took turns walking around while leaving someone to man the fort.  Since I wasn’t one of the artists I ended up taking the first walking shift which was to fetch lunch (Mexican) and drinks, later I made a quick coffee run – what can I say, us talentless hacks have to carry our weight in some way.
Many friends came by to visit the table, it was like we imported Faire right to us.  I was thinking, “I’m sad, because I’m missing Faire today,” then all of a sudden there was Misty, the Fish Family and even some Boggards (who apparently must keep a yard’s distance between each other at all times.)
By the end of the evening I had bought a brand new outfit and an under-bust corset for CousinH.  Trades were being made jewelry for dreadfalls and a hat for some artwork.  No hats were sold, a few pieces of jewelry was, but a metric ass-ton of cards were distributed – I can only hope this means WoodTurnerD’s business will pick up.
