This weekend….

Well, Carmageddon was nothing; in fact, I’ve never seen the 405 freeway so swiftly moving on a Friday.

So, driving down on Friday night, getting to the Valley early, Cousin H and I went to eat at PF Changs, the Denny’s of Chinese food, so Sis says.  We had a nice meal, managed to stay pretty quiet and had an awesome waiter.

Saturday saw us grabbing coffee at Starbucks so we could use their internet to get directions to our dance class that didn’t involve the freeway.  Saw a wonderfully fun pale colored outfit in the window of a shop and had to run in and buy it.  Lacy, frilly, pink and beige….so un-me.  I wore it Saturday night and it was well received, I looked like I was going to a kid’s birthday party – fun.  Back to Sis’ place for sitting around and getting ready, then off to dance…it was a long 2.5 hours.  Two classes, Dancing in Character and then a belly dance class.

Dancing in Character, which ended our class by dancing the little routine as a zombie.  Teacher, “Who knows what a zombie’s motivation is?”  Me, “BRAINS!!!!”  Yes, I said it fast and loud…I mean, when you know the answer, you just do.

The Belly Dance class was tough, she picked a slow, sexy song to dance to – while my moves (due to my ginormous ass) were complemented – I had a hard time moving so slow.  My calves still hurt today.

Saturday night we went to House of Blues and watched The Devil’s Playground do a comic book themed burlesque show.  It was a really fun show – however, it started late and ran late…it didn’t finish until 1:45, which screwed me because the metro stops running at midnight. :-/

When I mentioned this to Sis she said she had the same issue with another Devil’s Playground show she went to, it really was upsetting because she had work the next day.  All I can say is, when you’re producing a show, it should start on time +/-  5 minutes.  If your acts aren’t ready then you should shuffle them or have a few fillers, almost like an understudy set of dancers.  However, I’m not a producer of anything but carbon dioxide, so I’ll just shut my mouth.

Sunday Cousin H and had had a nice brunch and went to the movies.  Because she had no interest in Harry Potter we saw Bridesmaids.  It was a funny enough movie, but it made me so uncomfortable for the main character I was squirming in my seat.  I guess some of it cut too close to my own situations…or how I perceive them.

The drive home, also a freeway-based non-event, got us home around 10:30ish…we left late from Sis’ because we couldn’t stop bull-shitting.

However, I woke up Monday with the cold CreepyKid caught from visiting a day-care last week, so I’m going to have a fun time with it.  Luckily it’s not killing me like the last one.

This week, looking forward to ComiCon (and time off work) and then only thinking about my High School reunion and then CreepyKid’s move in to her dorm. :-$
